RED flagは重篤な疾患を見逃さないためのサインであり、仮に見過ごしたまま整体やパーソナルトレーニングなどを実施してしまうと、その方の生命に関わる重大な事態を招く恐れがあるため、早期に判断する必要があり、一般の方であってもこういった知見があることで身近な方を救える可能性が増えるので知っておいて損はない知見となります。

high riskに分類される場合、「痛い原因は体のどこかが悪い」と決めつけてしまっているケースは非常に多く、難渋することも多々あり、心理社会的要因を考慮したアプローチはもちろん必要だが、「あなたの腰痛は心理面の影響」と決めつけるような捉え方も望ましくはないが、あまりにも過度にネガティブな要素が見受けられる場合は運動指導者、もしくはセルフケアに限界があることも考えられ、その際は認知行動療法などの心理的側面に特化したアプローチも推奨されています。28〜30)
